The existing city swimming pool was closed at the end of 2013 season, and remained closed and inoperable without major rehabilitation. On August 2nd, 2016, a special question was included on the election ballot asking to raise sales tax by 1% to fund a new pool which would commence on January 1, 2017 and expire 20 years after its commencement, it issued revenue bonds to the city in an amount of $1,765,000.00 to pay the cost of such swimming pool improvements and associated financing costs. The residents voted "Yes", and soon after, construction began on the new pool. Thank you to Reinvent Horton for providing some of the progression photos.
